Bloomsburg University Falls to Pitt in Wrestling
PITTSBURGH--The Bloomsburg University wrestling team opened its dual meet season on Wednesday night with a 30-14 loss to the University of Pittsburgh in an Eastern Wrestling League match.
The Huskies took a lead early in the match with a technical fall by Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy), 19-3, at 125 pounds. The Panthers came back with wins at 133 and 141 to take a 6-5 lead.
Bloomsburg, though, got a pin from 149-pounder Matt Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) to go back in front 11-6. That would be the final lead of the night for the Huskies. Pitt won the three matches, one each by major decision, technical fall and pin to take a 21-11 lead. The Huskies Nate Shirk (Middleburg/Middleburg) picked up a 4-2 decision at 184 pounds before the Panthers finished the night with wins at 197 and heavyweight.
Pitt improves to 2-0, 1-0 in the EWL, while Bloomsburg goes to 0-1, 0-1 in the EWL. The Huskies go to Albany, NY on Saturday for the Northeast Duals.
